What to Expect During Your Sisterlocks™ Initial Consultation

Hello beautiful! I’m excited to share what happens during a Sisterlocks™ initial consultation. If you’re considering starting your Sisterlocks™ journey, this post will walk you through everything you need to know about our first meeting together.

Getting to Know You and Your Hair

Our consultation is the first step in your Sisterlocks™ journey, and it's all about getting to know you, your hair, and your lifestyle. We’ll start by discussing your personal hair care history. I want to understand everything about your hair—its texture, any previous chemical treatments, and how you’ve been caring for it. This information helps me determine the best approach for your Sisterlocks™.

Next, we’ll talk about your styling preferences and lifestyle. Do you prefer low-maintenance styles? Are you interested in a fuller look or smaller, tighter locks? Understanding how you envision your Sisterlocks™ will guide the process and ensure that the results align with your expectations and lifestyle.

Installing "Sample Locks"

After our chat, I will install a small cluster of 8-12 "sample locks" in your hair. This step is crucial for several reasons. First, it allows me to see how well your hair holds the locks and how they settle over time. I’ll also check the size of the locks, scalp visibility, and other factors that will affect the overall look and feel of your Sisterlocks™. Think of this as a trial run for your hair!

The "sample locks" give us both a preview of what your full head of Sisterlocks™ will look like. They help me assess if any adjustments need to be made to achieve the best results for your unique hair type.

Why This Consultation Is Essential

This consultation is a vital part of the Sisterlocks™ process. It gives us a chance to make sure that Sisterlocks™ are the right choice for you and that we are setting them up in the most suitable way for your hair. I want you to feel confident and excited about starting your Sisterlocks™ journey, and this consultation helps ensure that we’re both on the same page.

Preparing You for the Locking Session

During our meeting, I will also go over what you can expect during the actual locking session. The locking process can take anywhere from 10 to 20 hours, depending on your hair length and density, so it’s good to come prepared. I always recommend bringing a good book, some snacks, or anything else to keep you comfortable throughout the session.

Setting Expectations and Planning Ahead

We'll also discuss the maintenance routine you’ll need to follow after your Sisterlocks are installed. I’ll provide you with all the details, including how often you’ll need re-tightening sessions and what you can do to care for your locks in-between visits. Proper maintenance is crucial to keeping your Sisterlocks™ looking beautiful and healthy over time.

Before you leave the consultation, we’ll also discuss the "Starter Kit" you'll receive at your locking session. This kit includes a specially formulated shampoo for new locks, tiny rubber bands, and detailed tip sheets on grooming and shampooing as your locks begin to set.

Scheduling Your Follow-Up Appointment

Don’t forget—your journey doesn’t end once your locks are installed. Before you leave our consultation, we’ll schedule a follow-up appointment. This visit should happen after at least two washes, usually within a month of your initial locking session. During this follow-up, I’ll check the condition of your locks, retighten them as needed, and give you an idea of how long the settling-in process will take. We’ll also start discussing styling ideas to help you achieve the perfect look!

Let’s Get Started!

I hope this gives you a clearer idea of what to expect during your Sisterlocks™ initial consultation. It’s a crucial first step, and I’m here to guide you every step of the way. If you’re ready to begin your Sisterlocks journey or have any questions, feel free to contact me.
